Parish Sacramental Program

Parish Sacramental Program

Each year, our Parish offers a Sacramental Program for students in Years 3 to 6. This Parish-based program provides the opportunity for children to receive the sacraments of First Reconciliation, First Eucharist, and Confirmation.

Program dates and details will be communicated annually through the school newsletter by the Religious Education Coordinator and will also be published in the Wallsend/Shortland Parish Bulletin.

Parents are required to attend information evenings for each sacrament. These sessions will outline the significance of each sacrament and explain the expectations for student participation.

The three sacraments are scheduled at different times throughout the year, allowing families to focus on each one individually. Throughout the program, the Religious Education Coordinator will provide guidance and support to all participating students.

Interested in Becoming Catholic?

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)

Are you curious about the Catholic faith? Feeling drawn to explore more? Whether you're just beginning to ask questions or are already considering becoming Catholic, you are warmly invited to join our RCIA program.

RCIA is a welcoming journey into the Catholic community. Through shared conversation, reflection, and prayer, participants come to know God more deeply through Jesus Christ and the life of the Church.

The RCIA process is primarily designed for those who have never been baptized in any Christian denomination. These individuals prepare to receive the Sacraments of Initiation—Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist—and are welcomed into full communion with the Catholic Church, typically at the Easter Vigil after about a year of preparation.

However, many participants have already been baptized in other Christian traditions. These individuals are also warmly welcomed and guided through a process tailored to their unique spiritual journey.

When and Where?
RCIA sessions are held Sundays at 4:00 PM (approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes) at the Parish Office next to St Patrick’s Church, Wallsend. This timing allows participants to attend the 5:30 PM Mass if they wish.

All are welcome—whether you're simply curious, exploring, or ready to take the next step.
